Amatuer Hour (:

So, this may sound like the dumbest question in the world, but I'm really very curious.

I've been playing for a little under two years. I play on my high school team during schooltime, and have been trying to further my ability during that. I am, sadly, still unable to perform a one-handed backhand. I've heard people say it's both a hard stroke and an easy one. I just can't seem to get the hand of it, though (unless I'm up at the service line). Would any one, by any chance, have some advice to give me? I know the correct grip (though I don't know it's name), and I understand the general stroke. But is there something I should know about or learn?

Thanks a ton! :D

Tennis in LA Anyone?

Hey everyone. Anyone here anywhere in their 20's who wants to play tennis somewhere in LA with me? I miss it a lot and have no one to play. I'm about intermediate level. I live in the LA area and have a car, PLUS I just found out I have access to a tennis court accross the street where I play. But I will play anywhere within a reasonable radius.

Just post to this and we can talk. Keep in mind I work full time during the week, but will play nights and weekends!

Quick about me: 22 year old female just out of college and I need to get out more!

Best,
The Drewess

Cold month courts

Its winter. For me, that means playing on an outdoor court is no longer bearable. Where do you play during the cold months? And what type of indoor court do you play on? Clay? Hard? Are there indoor grass courts?

How important is grip size and how do you determine the best size for your hand?

Equipment question

I am looking to purchase a new racquet in the $25 - $50 range. I am a recreational player and have been playing weekly for just over two months. I found a Head Ti Conquest 2000 on Amazon listed at $29.99 and was hoping someone might know about this particular racquet. Is it a decent choice for a beginning/intermediate player? I was unable to locate it on the official Head website. Any other suggestions would also be appreciated. Thanks!
